NBP REMOTE RADIO CONTROL INTERFACE UNIT (RRCIU)
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
- NBP’s Remote Radio Control Interface Unit is a commercial off-the-shelf unit for controlling approach and runway lights at airports. It is designed to interface between a Ground-To-Ground Receiver Decoder Controller (G/G), an Air-To-Ground (A/G) and the lighting system to be controlled. The Interface Unit receives the control signals from the G/G and A/G controllers and permits the system, with the proper authority, to control the lighting system.
The Interface Unit has the capacity to control the following systems:
• Medium Intensity Approach Lighting System with Runway Alignment Indicator Lights (MALSR)
• Precision Approach Path Indicator System (PAPI)
• Runway Alignment Indicator Lights (RAIL)
• Medium Intensity Approach Lighting System (MALS)
• Runway Edge Indicator Lights (REIL)
The system provides controls for up to three intensity levels and ON/OFF control for a flasher through the use of 24 and 120 volt relays. The system is protected from lightning and other transients by a series of lightning arresters.
